betsy grace and the missing shoe...
we ventured out for our oh so regular monday afternoon trip to the grocery store, and after almost completely checking out i realized my can of green chillies was dented. so, in an effort to prevent my company from ingesting the botulism disease i nicely asked the checker if i could go grab a different can. to my surprise the bagger offered to go get me a new can. (so nice of him) so while we waited, betsy grace managed to get her feet stuck in the buggy. after i took her pink crocs off she insisted on waiting impatiently in the cart. the bagger finally emerged from the busy crowd empty handed. he said he was so sorry but he couldn't find the chillies. so, i grabbed betsy grace shoved her feet into her crocs (without putting the strap behind her heel, just slipped them on like mules) we started our way from the check out line to isle 6 for green chillies. when we past the flowers betsy grace started signing over and over again and saying all this jiberish... i responded by saying, "oh yes, bug the flowers are so pretty..." we made it to isle 6, got the chillies, and made it al the way back to our packed buggy, when i realized... yep, no shoe... the left one was there but the right one was missing. sweet betsy grace just looked at me... when i turned around to go retrace my steps i remembered she was signing and talking over by the flowers. just as i headed that direction, the fower lady said, "maam, are you missing a shoe?" ARE YOU KIDDING ME????? I MUST BRAG!!! HOW SMART!!!!! she was telling me her shoe was missing it had fallen off... as soon as we walked up she again started signing "SHOE" and talking. i am positive she was saying, you dummy! i was trying to tell you my shoe had fallen off! i just giggled in pure disbelief! my 17 month old is smarter than me! it really does make me wonder what else she has been trying to tell me that i have totally missed! i will definitely pay more attention to her words and her signs! wow! m

How cute!! It just goes to show that as mothers on a mission, we don't always take time to listen to what our children are saying to us. No matter what the delivery of the message is. Maybe I should listen to what my son is saying to me as he turns off my computer while I am trying to type. :)
dona
