bye bye sling!!! but not without more drama...

today we went to the orthopedic and TADA... completely healed! THANK YOU, JESUS!!! we are so excited! no more sling, no more clothes that can't go over your head, no more worries! (for now anyway, about her collarbone) the funny part of the story is this... the nurse walked us to the room, and sweetly put the x-ray on the screen. then said, "oh, look betsy grace, that's what's holding you together, " and pointed at a safety pin. puzzled for a minute, bryan and i stared at the strange picture, cocked our heads, and then reality set in. THERE WAS A SAFETY PIN IN THE XRAY!!! it looked like it was barely down her esophagus, somewhat in front of her heart. what????? when could she have swallowed a safety pin??? somewhat paniced at this point we just stared at each other in complete disbelief as betsy grace repeatedly said, "go, go, go" the nurse quickly went to get the doctor. we stripped betsy grace frantically looking for a safety pin in her dress. i called the pediatrician and asked where do we go from here... then finally bryan said, "is there a safety pin in her bear?" calmly i said, "oh, yea, it's holding the sling on in case i need to wash it..." you see, when they went back for the initial xray she was holding her teddy for the xray. (i had to miss the whole xray thing because i am 35 weeks pregnant and about to pop!) YEAH, bryan for discovering this! i quickly asked the doctor for a repeat xray, and this time i held teddy. thankfully, they brought the xray in without any sign of a safety pin! PRAISE THE LORD, AGAIN AND AGAIN! wow, now we can laugh about it, but there for a minute our precious busy two year old was headed to the ER yet again. what a crazy picture... i almost asked if i could keep it! m

That is SO FUNNY! I had to get Jeremy to come over and read this. I totally would have been freaking out. As a nurse you know I started thinking, oh my goodness, what if the pin opens up, well then it would tear her esophagus, what about internal bleeding. I'm glad the pin was justin teddy.

I still can't believe that story! It is crazy! I had so much funny playing today with you and Bug. Thanks for letting a godmother get her time! Y'all are the sweetest!

Whew! You had me going for a minute! I'm so glad her collarbone is healed (with no safety pin involved)! It stinks that she broke a bone, but isn't God good to allow it to heal before your little one arrives? Good to see you today!

Mimi...I am laughing. Why is it that "medical people" do so well with critical thinking when we are on the job, but when it is our punkins...all training flies out the window. I am not one to laugh out loud when I read, but I did tonight!
